Here are the flesh and bones of a beast that is to be erected this Saturday at a special needs school in east London.
Andy Cross has designed and built (deconstructed in this photo) an apparatus that plays with ones spatial perceptions. The dozen periscopes will be assembled to allow the viewer to see all around them without having to move. It distorts and plays with views creating a mind bending experience where the the viewer no longer differentiates between their left, right, up, down, front or back.
Periscopia plays with the rules of perception and allows play with only the movement of the eyes. Here is a well crafted architecture whose aims to engage a child with severe learning difficulties can only be applauded.
