"I could tell you about life growing up on a farm in South Africa... Or I could tell you about the five years I spent at University to get my Jewellery Design and Manufacture Degree, the Dean's Medal I won or the bursary I was awarded.... I could tell you about the jewellery I've made up until now, the shows I've done and the exhibitions I'm planning.....
But I won't.....
I would rather tell you how I feel when I'm walking in the woods, so majestic and still... And how the hair on the back of my neck prickles when I see a wooden treasure... The scurrying bugs I see when I lift up the piece of wood and the smell of the forest, past and present, that fills my nose.
I would rather tell you about the pieces of jewellery I imagine I'm making when I look at the wood's lovely grain and feel the rich texture of the bark with my hands.
I would rather tell you that in these moments I feel more like a squirrel than anything else....."
